Skatepark Sixhaven
Amsterdam competition
After the closure of the indoor skatepark in Amsterdam, a void was left in the skate scene of the city. With a design competition for the renovation of the old harbour house in the Sixhaven port, we took our chance and designed an indoor skating hub in it. In a radical design, we proposed to build a skatepark over and surrounding the existing house. The old harbour house would stay and be used as a meeting place and an underpass for the skaters.
Although we did not win the competition, the design did spark a discussion on the lack of skating facilities in the city, and three years later indoor skatepark Noord was built.
